What is the Bad Beat Jackpot (BBJ)?

The Bad Beat Jackpot (BBJ) is a special system in poker where a player who loses with a very strong hand receives a consolation prize. But the prize isn’t just for the “unlucky” loser—it’s shared with the winner of the hand and the rest of the players at the table as well. The goal? To soften the blow of a brutal loss—with a generous payout!

Jackpot Trigger Conditions

To trigger the BBJ, specific hand and game conditions must be met:

Texas Hold'em	At least AAA1010	Must use 2 hole cards and reach showdown
Omaha	At least 2222	Must use 2 hole cards and reach showdown

Payout Distribution (Once BBJ Triggers)

When the jackpot is hit, the prize is distributed as follows:

• %10 Losing player (the one with the strong but beaten hand)
• %4 Winning player
• %4 Other players at the table (in the hand or not)

Example Calculations

Example 1:

• Jackpot Pool: $100,000
• Stake: $10/$20
• Jackpot multiplier for this level: 15%
• Total reward: $100,000 × 0.15 = $15,00

Distribution:

• Loser: $1,500
• Winner: $600
• Other players: $600 (e.g. 5 others = ~$150 each)

Example 2:

• Jackpot Pool: $100,000
• Stake: $0.25/$0.50
• Jackpot multiplier for this stake: 2%
• Total reward: $100,000 × 0.02 = $2,000

Distribution:

• Loser: $200
• Winner: $80
• Other players: $80
